Sony Pictures have announced that the supervillain VENOM will be coming to cinemas in October 2018. There is no word yet if the film will have any connections to the Tom Holland Spider-Man movies or the MCU. And if that’s not a big enough worry for you, then maybe the writers hired to scribble the script will put you off .
Writers Scott Rosenberg (Pain & Gain) & Jeff Pinkner (The Amazing Spider-Man 2) have been hired to pen the script for the film. As of yet there is no word on who will direct, or star in the film. I wouldn’t be surprised at all if they don´t go with the Eddie Brock character at all. Why would they do that if the connection to spider-man isn’t important to them. It all sounds like a rush-job to me, and I really can’t get too excited for this film. Im a fan of the character for sure, but what made the character so popular to begin with was the real menace he brought to his arch-enemy Spider-man. It was only long after his villainous run that Marvel made him more of an anti-hero. But even then he was very much a cold blooded killer. Who knows how much of the character I know will make it on-screen. They might cast Michael B jordan for all I know. Or Lena Dunham.
I won’t bother getting much more into this before some more information is available. It was just over a year ago that there was talk of the Venom film and i wrote a good deal about it then, which you can read HERE .
The Venom film will , if all goes according to plan, be coming to theaters on Oct. 5, 2018. To make room for Venom, Sony has moved “The Girl in the Spider’s Web,” Fede Alvarez’s “Dragon Tattoo” reboot from Oct. 5 to Oct. 19. Im guessing there will be more moving around of these projects though.
