News Week 1

The work week is coming to an end, although not for me. So for your reading pleasure and or horror, here is the news of the week in this crazy pop culture world we live in.

#MeToo .

I haven´t bothered writing about the movement up until now. Although some of the alleged stories more than likely is true ( and likely worse than what has been reported) the complete lack of due process has really got me down.  2017 became a cluster fooken of sexual harassment claims , and many powerful figures in media and entertainment have gone down in a blaze of fire. Actors, producers, conductors, singers, senators and fat ginger trolls alike.

This week there has been written a lot about the Golden Globes, and how the MEN (!) were gonna all wear black in solidarity or some such nonsense with the females.Because we all know they never have worn black otherwise. Personally I liked the idea of having a black carpet instead of the red one. But enough about that. What I wanted to highlight was the death treat made against Harvey Weinstein by the always lovable Paul Sorvino following allegations that the Miramax producer blacklisted Sorvino’s Oscar-winning daughter Mira after she rejected his sexual advances.

Speaking to some losers from some gossip website, Sorvino, known for playing Mafia tough guys in films like Goodfellas and The Firm, was quoted saying: “Weinstein better hope he goes to jail, because if we come across each other, I think he’ll be lying on the floor somehow.”

When asked about the news that prosecutors in Los Angeles are currently weighing two possible legal cases against Weinstein, Sorvino replied: “That son of a bitch. Good for him if he goes. If not, he has to meet me, and I’ll kill the motherfucker.”

I believe him too.

Daughter Mira chimed on her dad´s comments tweeting :

Ahhhhhhh. Mira Sorvino will soon be making a cameo on the hit show Modern Family.

Warner and his brothers continued to shake up the DC films “leadership”

Walter Hamada has been tasked to oversee Warners comic book movies. This comes after the studio decided to shitcan Jon Berg and Geoff Johns as the heads of the DC movies after Justice League failed at the box office, not even taking in $700 million worldwide ( LOL ).

In an official announcement of Hamada’s hire, Warner Bros. said Johns will “work closely” with the new production president. That is a lie i bet.

Hamada previously served for a decade as a production executive at New Line, a division of Warner Bros. I wonder if he might bring back Shazam back to Warners ?

The Last Jedi underperforms in China despite being so gawd damn progressive , and well made ( according to shills who want swag ). The obvious reason being that Chinese people hate foreigners and women ( I guess ). What else could it be?

Ridley Scott in Talks to Direct The Merlin Saga at Disney

Ridley Scott is in Talks to Direct The Merlin Saga for Walt Disney Pictures
Academy Award-winning screenwriter Philippa Boyens has written the script for The Merlin Saga, based on T.A. Barron‘s books. I know nothing about the books, and Ridley hasn’t really impressed me with his latest outings. Perhaps this is a good move for him though. Disney is “killing the business”, and one would assume it would be wise to be on the winning team going forwards. Earlier in the week Ridley was quoted saying ” No Reason’ Alien Shouldn’t be on Level as Star Wars …” so obviously dementia is setting in. Better get Merlin made sooner rather than later.

True Detective Season 3

Image result for Stephen Dorff
HBO cast Stephen Dorff to star opposite Mahershala Ali  and Carmen Ejogo in the third True Detective Season. Dorff will play an Arkansas State Investigator named Roland West, the partner of Ali’s Wayne Hays. I loved the first season, and could not for the life of me figure out what the hell season 2 was supposed to be about. Im hoping season 3 will be more like the original series.

Image result for Cloverfield 2

The untitled third Cloverfield movie got yet another change in its release date.  The film has now moved from February 2, 2018 to April 20, 2018.Known earlier as God Particle, it was originally set for a February 24, 2017 release. Then it was pushed to October 17, 2017 and THEN it moved to February 2, 2018. It sound like a clusterfooken to me, and Im guessing it was just a film that had nothing to do with Cloverfield which JJ bought, slapped on some obscure footage to kind of connect it, and hey presto it’s a piece of shit. Although 10 Cloverfield Lane was pretty damn good IMO.
