The Man From Uncle star will join Tom Cruise , Rebecca Ferguson, Simon Pegg, and Jeremy Renner in the sixth instalment of the Mission Impossible series.
Returning director Christopher McQuarrie made the announcement via something called Instagram.
“Say, @henrycavill. Had a thought. Curious if you’re interested in a role in the 6th installment of Mission: Impossible. No pressure.” To which Cavill responded in the comment section, “How can I say no to a man with such perfect hair…..”
No news yet on what the plot will be, but its no stretch to think that the IMF might be going up against the british secret service MI6, which would be fitting for obvious reasons. The rouge agent trope might also be in play, having Cavill play some sort of turncoat. Then there is also the possibility of russian badassery being involved, as the reds are very much the flavor of the decade for villainy again. Im sure news will be trickling out during the coming weeks.
Production on the film will get underway on April 10 in Paris. McQuarrie will be again be writing and directing as he did on MI:5 Rogue Nation.
McQuarrie will be producing the film alongside Cruise, Don Granger, J.J. Abrams and Skydance Production’s David Ellison and Dana Goldberg.
Mission: Impossible 6 is set to debut in theaters July 27, 2018.
