Oh how good it is to have a netflix account. They are churning out loads of original content with stand-up shows, tv series, and movies. The David Ayer directed BRIGHT looks like it could be pretty good romp, and now Netflix has released a full length trailer. Check it out below :
Bright is directed by David Ayer, known for movies like Harsh Times, Street Kings, End of Watch, Sabotage, Fury, and the shitshow Suicide Squad ( although Ayer can’t be faulted for what Warner and his brothers did with that film). The screenplay is written by writer/director Max Landis(red flag!) .
Starring Will Smith, Bright is set in a world where creatures like orcs and elves co-exist with humans. It’s been said to a bit like Training Day also as Smith plays a cop assigned a partner who’s an orc and he “just doesn’t like him”. Joel Edgerton co-stars as the orc-cop “Nick Jakoby”, and the full cast includes Noomi Rapace, Kenneth Choi, Brad William Henke, Lucy Fry, Edgar Ramírez, Ike Barinholtz, Brandon Larracuente, and Dawn Olivieri.
In an alternate present-day where magical creatures live among us, two L.A. cops become embroiled in a prophesied turf battle.
“It was really great to be an African-American police officer who found someone to be racist against,” Will Smith joked recently while promoting the film at San Diego Comic Con. Smith said the film’s social issues-inspired story is “a beautiful snapshot of our world, without hammering it too much.”
Director David Ayer had much praise for Netflix , and also took a hard jab at Warner and his brothers, presumably for how they ruined Suicide Squad
“This ain’t no bullshit PG-13 studio movie. I was able to do my shit. I was able to do my thing.Netflix is going to pull a lot of talent because they are so supportive”
Netflix will release Ayer’s Bright exclusively streaming online starting on December 22nd. What do you guys think ? Write me a postcard and tell me what you think.
