Marvel has released a little sneak peek of the upcoming Guardians of the Galaxy Vol2. Check it out below:
Its no secret that I am a fan of comic books and movies based on said books. I read DC books and Marvel books. I love these stories and the characters , but Im pretty damn far from being up to date on any current books. Ive read comics like Hulk , Spider-Man, Batman and X-Men since I was a kid. These mags were a big part of me learning to read. Not only that, but learning to enjoy reading. I bought comics before I could even properly read them. At one point though in the late 80s I fell off reading them, but this was due to the magazines being discontinued. I kept the ones I had and still have a few of those old mags lying around somewhere. But being a fan of the source material can sometimes be a detriment. You know the saying ; “the book was better” . Its no joke, sometime that is the case. Sometimes it’s the opposite . But then sometimes a movie fails so badly that you legitimately have to ask if the filmmakers ever even read the source material .
I think this story would make for a fine film. Has so many underlying messages, and still relevant ones.
“Neil Young won Video of the Year Award on Sept. 6, 1989 for “This Note’s for You” at the MTV Video Music Awards even though the clip had been banned by the same network.”
Who would play Neil Young ?
Kurt Russell as David Crosby ??
Who should play ” ViaCom VP ” , obvious villain , and no fan of 70´s rock and roll !
Who could play ” Unnamed MTv executive nr1″ ?
It could work dammit.
Working Title : Keep on Rocking In The Free World
Suggested writer ?
Surely such a film project get the funding and backing from a studio.
Young’s song took aim at corporate sponsorship of rock n’ roll — a hot-button issue in the music industry at the time — and the clip included a parody of Michael Jackson. Specifically, Young sang over a scene in which a Jackson lookalike’s hair caught fire – mimicking a then-recent mishap on the set of a Pepsi commercial – with the flames put out by a Whitney Houston doppelganger brandishing a can of soda. Michael Jackson was said to be considering legal action against Neil Young, and MTV pulled the video from its broadcast rotation.
“One of the things I wanted to do before Pulp Fiction to some degree or another…one of the outside projects that I considered doing was doing a Luke Cage movie”
“In the case of Luke Cage, it was my comic geek friends that almost talked me out of it, because I thought Larry Fishburne back in the day would’ve been a great Luke Cage, and they were talking about Wesley Snipes. And I could see them both, but it was like ‘I think Fish would be better.’ And they go ‘Yeah…he could work out and everything, but he doesn’t have the bod that Wesley Snipes has, and Luke Cage needs to have the bod.’
“And I literally was so turned off that that would be their both starting and ending point, that it literally put it in my head that, if I do a comic book movie, it should be an original character. It should be something I create rather than try to fit in.”
– Quentin Tarantino
So that sounds like it could have been interesting. And at the time I’m sure Marvel would have given him the rights for a reasonable price. Even Luke’s powers seems doable at the time. That being said, I’m glad it never went anywhere . Im quite fond of Tarantino’s filmography as it is. And who knows what would have happened if he had tried his hand with a superhero movie instead of Pulp Fiction…..
I first read about this over at NERDBONG.com Now who wrote it t is beside the point.Lets just say i trust this guy with my life, and he is a very reliable source.
If you think about it, this is a genius move by DISNEY. The movie Into The Woods needs an adrenaline injection, and for Disney to have the teaser for Star Wars The Force Awakens attached to the movie would certainly bring people to the theater who otherwise would never go to see a musical fairytale movie starring Meryl Streep and Johnny Depp.
Now just to be safe, i have filed this under the “What If” , and “Bull Shit Section” categories. But just the same i am reporting it as stone cold fact !!
The other scenario is Disney attaching it to Avengers Age of Ultron, and really, that film does not need the help.
So book your tickets to go see the Star Wars The Force Awakens trailer now. If you want to stick around to watch Into The Woods that is completely up to you. I wont , but to each his own right ??
Chadwick Boseman is ‘Black Panther’
Benedict Cumberbatch is Dr Strange
Edit ; Brie Larson is Captain Marvel
Vin Diesel is BLACK BOLT ( of the INHUMANS ) maybe ??
Josh Brolin is Thanos ( for some reason )
The space angle is the real key here i think, and one character that i can see uniting all these movies before Avengers : Infinity Wars is the bad ass character, that just happens to my favourite character : ADAM WARLOCK
Who will play this iconic character ?? Matthew McConaughey ?? Bradley Cooper ??? Kevin Bacon !!!!!
I don´t know…. but not having him would be a goddamned travesty
He will most likely be introduced in Guardians 2. He is the keeper of the Soul Gem. Inhumans are on the dark side of the moon, but Feige dropped a hint that we “might” be seeing the INHUMANS sooner rather than later in the MCU. You can put money on Black Bolt ( Vin Diesel) appearing in GUARDIANS of The Galaxy 2 !! Take it to the bank. Wonder who will play Medusa. She is Black Bolts wife and mouth piece. I’m gonna throw Amanda Seyfried out there as a contender
Perhaps Black Bolt already has an infinity gem ? We know Asgard has the cosmic cube ( will be taken in Thor Ragnarok i guess ) Like i said, Adam Warlock has the Soul Gem. So yeah, maybe The Inhumans already possess a gem ?? And its not such a stretch to guess that Dr Strange might be in possession of the reality gem ??Or at least he gets it during his solo movie. He and Silver Surfer was pretty big pawns in Adam Warlock’s plot to defeat THANOS. So that leaves the one the Nova Core has, and the ether ?? I can’t think straight. Might be forgetting some parts……
So Captain Marvel will be the Carol Danvers character. She got her powers originally from the first Captain Marvel ( Mar-Vell ) a KREE warrior. Those blue punks who fight the Skrull , those green pricks.
Im guessing that will be the origin they go with in the movies also, seeing as everything seems connected by the whole alien/space thing. Even Agents of SHIELD are doing that, and the alien that was used to save Coulson and that is now turning him batshit crazy , was in fact BLUE. BLUE = KREE = Mar-Vell = Captain Marvel.
Thats me ranting away. Meanwhile the new Avengers line up after Age of Ultron will be : Hawkeye, Vision, Ant-Man , Wasp, Quicksilver and Scarlet Witch. Hulk leaves, and Ironman and Cap have a falling out which leads into their little Civil War movie. WHOOOOOOOOOOO CARES!!!!
Im getting way ahead of everyone now, but WHAT IF Avengers : Infinity Wars lead directly into SECRET INVASION 🙂
PHASE 4 ?? They have to get to the Skrull at some point…….. after the credits the heroes finds that one of their dead buddies was an undercover skrull…. duh duh duh …… It was the thing that got the heroes back together after the whole Civil War thing….. just saying…..
That is all
Because the man is a solid actor thats why. He has been pretty damn consistent over the course of his career. Now although all of movies may not have been top notch that has nothing to with him. He has always brought gravitas to the role he plays, and right now he is actually playing a doctor in one of, if not the coolest show on tv. The Knick !!
Now, since Joaquim Pheonix dropped out of talks with Marvel there have been rumors of Ethan Hawke , and of course the names they were talking about before Pheonix looked set to take the role. Names like Tom Hardy, and Benedict Cumberbatch. Now all these guys are fine actors. I could get behind Ethan Hawke for the role. Not so much Cumberbatch or Hardy. They are great, and Hardys film LOCKE was super cool, and i love him, but neither him or Cumberbatch really seem to fit as the sorcerer supreme.
I think Marvel should seriously look at Clive Owen for this part. He is an older , and i think the character of Stephen Strange has to be an older, and wiser character. Im telling you he would be perfect for it. Give him a little grey hair on the sides, a mustache and that iconic red/blue outfit and HE IS DOCTOR STRANGE!!
Cast Denzel Washington and Amanda Seyfried as Cloak & Dagger while you’re at it . Don’t let magic and mystery die with Harry Potter !!!
Razzle razzle !!
You read that right. Now Ewan McGregor has said he is not involved in the new series, but who know if he is telling the truth? There are some moments in the original trilogy that really stand out as powerful moments. The reveal that Vader is Lukes father. Lukes rage attack on Vader in RotJ , and the moment when Vader saves Luke at the end. These moments give me a chill every time i see them. Now i have been thinking about how they could induce such a reaction with the old fans in this new movie. There has been some supposed leaks this week about plot details, but for me i don´t bother much with any of that. If you haven’t read any of it, then good for you, but i will have to touch a little upon it so be warned. SPOILER BELOW
Now the main gist of the spoiler this week was that Luke Skywalker will be the villain of Star Wars episode 7. I call bullshit on that right of the bat. But for my , for lack of a better word , idea to work, it really does not matter if he is or if he ain’t. I imagine Lucas Film has some, if not lots of unused footage and dialog from Sir Alec Guinness that were never used. From all three films he appeared in. And its this unused stuff i could see them using in episode 7. I remember Lucas toying with an idea about making a movie using a combination of old footage and CGI magic to bring back some lost icons to the screen. Now this does not seem like a good idea to me, but for this one use of Guinness in Episode 7…. ohh yes please.
Now i am not gonna get too much into exactly how they could do it . I have thought out a few ways to do this in order to have a powerful moment in the film. The one i keep coming back too involves the death of Luke Skywalker. He is the one character they can kill off, and still bring back as a force ghost. Han and Leia sure aint learnt that trick ( and neither did Anakin but what the hell…)
Now there would have to be a good combination of things for this to work. The build up is key, and like i said , it does not matter if Luke is good or bad. I would prefer him being good, but thats just me ( and millions of others). So if they build this up right, it could be awesome and it could bring a tear to my eye. Very few movies manage to do that. I see it going something like this :
Say Luke and the others are in peril. The villain has been vanquished , but their lives are still in danger ( somehow someway). Lets say Luke is hanging over a fall or something. Like i said, i’m no movie writer . But the gist would be , he would have to sacrifice himself in order to save the others. If this is Han, Leia, both, or even the new breed of stars is also really not as important as the actual sacrifice of luke Skywalker. NOW !! If they are smart, and do NOT use any of the musical score that was used in the original, they could…. in the final moments. Luke Skywalkers final moment, he would hear old Ben Kenobi tell him to
” Let go Luke. ” ( music from A New Hope blazes in THX super sound ) Luke falls to certain death. Not a dry eye in the theatre !!
I tried finding it on a soundboard but this will have to do :
So, not the Use the Force bit. Just “Let go Luke”. Maybe include the ” Luke, trust me” bit as well.
I think that would be a powerful moment to end the film, and like i said, Luke can come back as a ghost later. And i would prefer him not coming back in episode 8. Save it for episode 9 !!
I mentioned that they likely have lots of unused footage, and audio from Alec Guinness, and there are a number of things they could do to make it work. But i think the less is more approach would work best. What say you Star Wars fans. Could this work ??
